FAQ

Eyelash Extensions

  • Lash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic, faux mink or silk fibers which are applied strand by strand to your natural lashes. The extensions are carefully applied one at a time using a specially-formulated, semi-permanent glue that will not irritate or damage the natural lash.

Unlike false eyelashes, where the strip or individual lashes are applied to the skin, lash extensions are attached directly to the lash itself. The results are gorgeous, lush, dense lashes.

  • Since extensions are attached to the lash itself, they last as long as the natural growth cycle, or about six weeks. Following proper aftercare instructions may extend the life of the extensions for some. This is why a touch-up “fill” is recommended every two to three weeks to fill in any sparse areas.

  • No. Lash extensions should be applied to your natural lashes and fall off when they do. Your eyelashes have a natural growth cycle where they grow to a certain length and then fall off once they’ve reached their maximum length. Lash extensions are applied to a single natural lash. When your natural lash falls off, your lash extensions will too. So as long as your lash artist applies the lash extensions correctly, you won’t need to worry about damage to your natural lashes or their growth cycle.

  • Eyelash extension treatments should be painless. It's so comfortable that most clients even doze off during the appointment. Talk to your lash artist right away if you feel any discomfort or complications days or weeks after the procedure.

  • Makeup can be worn if it is safe for extensions and you continue with proper aftercare. Adhere to the following guidelines:

    • Mascara - DO NOT use mascara (especially waterproof) unless it is “lash safe”. We offer a wonderful lash safe mascara available in our online store and salon. Show me!

    • Eyeliner - Liquid or gel liner may sometimes affect lash retention, but if washed off daily should not be an issue. (available in our online store and salon) Show me!

    • Eyeshadow/Foundation - Should be ok to use as long as you remember to wash your lashes at the end of each day to protect from build up of dead skin, makeup, dirt, oil, etc.

    • Setting Spray - May also affect lash retention if direct contact with lashes. Cover lashes when using to avoid any issues.

    • Skin Care Products & Face Wash - Safe to use as long as product is OIL FREE. Oils break down the lash adhesive very easily.

    • Eye Serum - These must be applied safely in the daytime. DO NOT apply eye serum before bed as it ends up soaking into the lashes. Lashes should still be washed with a specially formulated lash wash and brush. (available in our online store and salon) Show me!

    • Hairspray & Perfume - Both contain alcohol which if sprayed near the eyes can damage extensions making the ends bend. Cover lashes while spraying.

    • Heat can melt extensions. Be mindful of BBQs, campfires, hot blow dryers and even hot/steamy showers.

    • Not sure this needs to be said, but in case anyone was wondering…NEVER put false lash strips on top of lash extensions. The strip glue will damage the extensions.

  • Lash allergies are rare, but can happen. Most allergic reactions are due to lash adhesives. However only 3% of eyelash extension wearers suffer from allergies related to lash adhesives. People who are allergic to eyelash extension glue or any of its ingredients may often see symptoms like redness, swelling, puffiness, and itchiness around their eyes.

Another rare yet possible lash extension allergy can be due to natural lashes, especially mink and silk lash fibers. The rule of thumb is to avoid mink fur fibers if you’re allergic to cats, dogs, or the furs of other animals. A good reason to choose synthetic lashes over natural fibers.

  • Touch-up fills can help eliminate the gaps that begin to make your lashes look a little ragged and less neat. If you go in every two or three weeks to have the gaps filled in, you can maintain your thick-lashed look indefinitely without having to pay for a full-set eyelash extension procedure each time.

  • Yes. You can have pretty eyes when you wake up, straight out of the shower, and even out of the pool! If you’re swimming in water that is chlorinated or salty, splash your extensions with fresh water afterwards or cleanse them with a foam lash wash and brush. Avoid detergents, oily soaps and eye-rubbing and your lashes should last well. Try to pat them dry gently.

  • Your lash day is here! To make your experience go as smoothly as possible, please do the following on the day of appointment:

    • Make sure you have completed and signed the waiver/form that was emailed to you. Contact LashSugar if you need it resent.

    • Come with freshly washed lashes having used an actual lash wash. (available in our online store and salon) Show me!

    • No makeup is preferable.

    • No coffee or caffeine recently before the appointment. It causes eye movement and flinch and your body won’t be able to relax as easily.

    • Arrive on time to ensure full completion of your service within the scheduled time frame.

    • If wanting a new or different look, please bring pictures to reference. Always tell us what we can change to make sure you are 100% pleased with your lashes.

    • Wear comfy clothes if possible. You will be laying for a long time. Feel free to bring blankets to help make yourself more comfortable. It’s time for your lash nap! We have leg pillows, bed heaters, comfy extra padded beds and cozy blankets available too.

    • Silence your cell phone before the procedure so you can truly enjoy your “me” time.

    • DO NOT use oil-based eye products, creams, or makeup remover.

    • DO NOT use mascara unless it is “lash safe”. (available in our online store or salon) Show me!

    • Come to your fill appointment with clean lashes. Build up on lashes (oil, dead skin, old makeup, etc.) can result in a cleaning fee.

    • DO NOT use curlers or glue-on lash strips on your lashes ever.

    • AVOID heat from campfires, BBQs, ovens, saunas, etc. Your lashes can melt and lose curl.

    • Clean your lashes at least every other day. (lash wash + brush available in our online store or salon) Show me!

    • AVOID sleeping on your face. Tummy and Side sleepers be careful. Using a silk eye mask paired with a silk pillowcase will prevent your lashes from snagging on normal cotton fabrics while sleeping. (available in our online store or salon) Show me!

    • DO NOT pick, pull, or rub at lashes. Doing so will gradually cause your natural lashes to become sparse and thin.

    • Brush lashes daily or whenever needed. A clean silicone spoolie does the trick nicely. (available in our online store or salon) Show me!

    • Have a lash fill every 2-4 weeks to maintain beautiful, even lashes.

    • Please let us know immediately of any issues, questions or concerns. Your satisfaction is our top priority.

Eyebrow Services

  • Eyebrow tinting is the process of coloring the hair and tinting the epidermis of the skin. Brow tinting helps fill the gaps where any lighter hairs are not visibly contributing to the core of the brow. The whole process typically takes about 30-45 minutes.

  • This form of eyebrow coloring uses a semi-permanent dye and typically lasts between 3 to 4 weeks. Plan on monthly upkeep. The tint slowly begins to fade after two weeks, and will be mostly gone after week four. Maintain it regularly or try it out for a special occasion!

  • A noninvasive procedure that involves straightening the brow hairs so they lie straight, full, and in the right direction creating shiny, smooth brows. After your natural brow hairs are straightened, a fixing solution is applied to keep the hairs straight, as well as a tint if desired. The result is fuller-looking brows that stay in place when brushed into shape. The procedure only takes about 45 minutes.

  • For best results, you are advised not to get your brows wet for 24 hours after the treatment. If properly maintained, brow lamination can last anywhere from four to six weeks.

  • Yes of course! Many clients prefer to add tinting to their brow lamination service to achieve very desirable results.

Microblading

  • A cosmetic tattooing procedure that fills in thin eyebrow areas to make them look fuller. This method is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows. The results are natural looking, hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of hair present.

  • The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will fade over time. Touch-ups are recommended every 1-2 years to maintain shape, color, and detail. How often depends on a number of factors including:

    • Skin type (oily skin fade faster)

    • Pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster)

    • Sun exposure (over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment)

    • Use of daily anti-aging products e.g.- (Tretinoin (Retin-A) & Alpha Hydroxy). These products increase your cell turnover rate and will shorten the life of your cosmetic tattoo.

  • 2 hours 30 mintues on average. During your appointment we will consult with you the entire time ensuring we are on the same page. Much of the time is spent measuring and drawing on a symmetrical set of brows and agreeing on your perfect shape and color. The 6 week touch-up appointment will take about 2 hours.

  • In order to ensure that the brows heal perfectly after the first appointment, a follow up treatment is usually needed 6-8 weeks later. This touch-up gives us the ability to correct any areas that possibly faded or allows the client to make suggestions if they want adjustments with the shape or color.

  • We do all that we can to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible. Before the Microblading begins, a topical anesthetic is applied to the area to minimize discomfort, followed by a liquid anesthetic during the procedure. Some clients may feel a slight discomfort, but it’s relatively pain free for many.

    • Use ice packs and ibuprofen for pain and swelling.

    • NO swimming pools, jacuzzis or other bodies of water for two weeks.

    • DO NOT soak your face underwater in a bathtub or allow the shower to spray directly in your face for two weeks.

    • Keep the tattooed area clean by rinsing with lukewarm water and patting dry with a disposable paper towel 3 times a day, then apply thin layer of the aftercare ointment provided. Apply using a disposable cotton swab. Do this for the first seven to ten days.

    • AVOID working out for 7 days following your microblading appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you must clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and give poor results.

    • AVOID direct sun exposure and tanning beds for the first 14 days. You MUST wear a hat while outside during the healing process. Use SPF protection after the first 14 days.

    • DO NOT apply make-up to the tattooed area for the first two weeks. Chemicals of any kind may interfere with the healing and color of your tattoo.

    • DO NOT pick or scratch at the dry skin/scabs; let the skin fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment. IMPORTANT: Once the flakes have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will completely cover the hair strokes. It will appear as though the eyebrows are gone. Within 1-2 weeks, the hair strokes will slowly reappear at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates.

    • DO NOT tweeze or wax brows for 14 days.

    • Brows WILL heal differently with swelling, pigmentation of the skin, and medication. Brows WILL change color, size and shape through the healing process.

Permanent Makeup

  • Permanent Makeup is the term used to describe the cosmetic tattooing of facial features (eyebrows, eyelids, or lips) to improve color and shape. It involves non-surgical procedures that use specialized tattooing methods. Colored pigments are implanted into the middle layer of the skin through microscopic injections with an extremely fine needle or cluster of needles. This is also known as Micropigmentation, Microdermal Pigmentation, or Dermagraphics..

  • Every precaution is taken to make clients feel comfortable during the procedure. Some people may feel minor discomfort that varies according to their pain threshold and response to anesthetics. Topical anesthetic cream or gel is applied before and during all procedures to numb the area and minimize discomfort. Those with body art comment that cosmetic tattooing is painless compared to traditional tattooing. Overall, people feel the benefits from the results far outweigh any brief discomfort they might have experienced during the process.

  • The results are considered permanent because the tattooed color cannot be washed off. However, the color should be considered “semi-permanent” because some fading will occur over time. Color retention is affected by different factors including the shade of the original color, the person’s age and metabolism, skin type and condition, exposure to UV radiation, smoking, certain drugs and medications, and skin peeling treatments such as Retin-A or microdermabrasion. In general, the color lasts from one to five years and can be enhanced and refreshed by a maintenance visit when needed.

    • Lipliner - A natural appearing permanent cosmetic lip liner can be applied to give more definition and correct uneven lips, which will result in a fuller appearance. The procedure also helps prevent lipstick from bleeding and can minimize the appearance of wrinkles.

    • Full Lips - Full lip color can be applied in either a natural hue or a more vivid one. Wear your permanent lip color alone in a natural tone or apply different shades of lipstick over your permanent lip color for those occasions when you prefer a more dramatic look.

    • Upper and/or Lower - Permanent eyeliner can be applied in many styles and colors, from a soft, natural-looking enhancement to a defined line–the choice is yours! Some people feel both upper and lower eyeliner suits their needs best, while others feel only an upper or a lower eyeliner is appropriate for them.

  • Whatever permanent makeup procedure you choose, you will wake up, shower, exercise, work, swim, and go to bed always looking your best! No more tattle tale cosmetic smear or smudge during the day. No more concern when participating in sports activities or outdoor events. Your look remains consistently fresh appearing throughout the day and night.

    • Lips (depending on the options) can take up to 3 hours 30 minutes.

    • Eyeliner (depending on the options) can take up to 2 hours 30 minutes.
